Armor upgrade needed

After a brutal dirt dive, my old back protector called it quits, still good for weekend trails but not enough juice left for serious business. Now I'm shopping around for the next layer of defense. Alpinestars Nucleon KR-R Cell caught my eye. No shoulder straps but supposedly sticks like gum on a shoe. Does anybody here vouch for it under a tight suit, or should I be looking elsewhere?

This is exactly why we wear back protectors! glad you're mostly okay, but it's smart to upgrade!

I've heard good things about how well Alpinestars' protectors stay put but I haven't personally tried that specific one under a tight suit. are you planning to wear it under a one-piece leather suit or more of a textile jacket?

Why would a top-tier protector like the Nucleon KR-R Cell skip shoulder straps if secure fit is so critical under race conditions

Thanks for the good words, it was a real get off for sure. I'll be wearing it under a one pc leather race suit. That's why the 'no straps' design caught my eye, less bulk under a tight fit. @Flemming-66

Million dollar question. My take is that under a properly fitted race suit, the suit itself holds the protector against your body like a second skin. The straps just become unnecessary bulk that can get in the way. @Banby1
