I just got a 2008 SV650 and I'm a little concerned about the mileage. I ran a history report using the VIN and it says the bike was first registered with over 25,000 miles on it back in 2018. The weird part is the current odometer only shows around 9,400 miles. I'm wondering if this is a mistake on the report or if the previous owner messed with the odometer. The bike runs great, but should I be worried about the true mileage being so high? Is it worth keeping and riding, or should I just try to fix it up and sell it?

Okay, so the mileage thing is a bit of a worry. Someone might have messed with the odometer, you know? Getting a mechanic to give it a once-over is a smart move to see what's really going on. And hey, if you sell it later, just be straight up about the mileage thing with anyone who's thinking about buying it.

That kind of gap usually means the cluster was swapped at some point, which isn’t unheard of on older SVs. If it runs well and checks out mechanically, I wouldn’t panic, just be upfront about it if you ever sell and maybe have a shop give it a quick look for peace of mind.
